WiPaM platform for telemedicine
IXSyS developed WiPaM, a secure telemedicine platform that connects homecare medical devices in the patient’s home directly to the healthcare workers that need to be able to view the test results of these devices an that is already used in many projects. WiPaM does not focus on one single pathology, but it covers them all. More and more scientific publications prove that Telemedicine is the medical tool of the future, not only because it ensures reliable monitoring of chronically ill patients in their home environment, but also because of the enormous cost saving.Activities
WiPaM can be used in various ways: for home care, for the exchange of diagnostic tests, in order to develop a complete network around a patient and in clinical trials.
WiPaM is typically used for follow-up of chronically ill patients (e.g. patients with diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, heart failure...) and can be used for home hospitalization.

Network
The primary goal is to create a network around a patient in order to obtain a more effective screening and monitoring of chronically ill patients with their different care providers

Secondly to monitor patients with asthma, heart failure, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, ... in a very simple but reliable manner.
Integration:
The link with the EHR is standardly built-in. Moreover, there is a link with an external platform for imaging.
Follow-up of the elderly
A central Base Unit with integrated SIM card can be used as a telephone and connects wireless to several activity detectors, alarm buttons, door detectors, fire detectors, gas detectors and medical devices.

Projects
We currently have screening projects on the sudden death in sportsmen, IBD, COPD and diabetes, as well as home care projects for monitoring of asthmatic, diabetes and COPD patients.
A project for the monitoring of stroke patients in the ambulance, which is extended to cardiac emergencies.
Post-operative follow-up with questionnaires and homecare devices.
In the Baltic States traveling nurses equipped with a laptop with custom made software and connected to medical devices performed medical tests on patients in remote areas. The results were made available with video call to a physician in the hospital.
We collected the data from a bicycle ergometer on a tablet PC. The results were sent to WiPaM so that the health care professionals could assess the physical activity of the patient.
